What is FIR?
FIR stands for Flight Instructor Rating used to impart flying instructions in cockpit.
How much flying experience is required to get Flight Instructor Rating?
A. 20 hours of flight time as pilot-in-command by night during which at least twenty take-offs and twenty landings have been carried out; and B. 200 hours of flight time on aeroplanes in the capacity of an Assistant Flight Instructor; or C. five hundred hours flight time as Pilot-in-Command of an aeroplane or two hundred fifty hours as Pilot-in-Command of a helicopter, as the case may be:
Can I get my ATPL issued without multi-engine endorsement?
No
What is the difference between CPL and ATPL?
CPL is commercial Pilot Licence with which you can fly all aircrafts not exceeding 5700 Kg as Pilot-in-Command. ATPL means Airlines Transport Pilot Licence with which you can fly any aircraft as Pilot-in-Command.
What is minimum age requirement for Flight Instructor Rating?
20 Years
I am a CPL holder with 2000 hours flying experience, can I go directly for FIR?
Yes
What is the difference between AFIR and FIR?
An AFIR holder can impart flying instructions in daytime only that too under supervision of Dy. CFI or CFI. There are some extra privileges for FIR holder e.g. to impart instruction for night flying, release first solo, impart instructions on multi-engine aircraft, to get approval from DGCA as Dy. CFI or CFI.
