What is a Private Pilot License (PPL)?
It allows you to fly for personal use, not for commercial or paid flying.
How many hours are required for PPL?
Minimum of 40 hours of flying, including solo and cross-country flights.
What is the age requirement for PPL Issue?
You must be at least 17 years old.
Is PPL necessary before CPL?
No, it is optional. Many students go directly for CPL training.
What exams are required for PPL?
Air Navigation, Meteorology, Air Regulations, Technical General and Technical Specific.
Can I convert PPL to CPL later?
Yes. Your flying hours will be counted, depending on recency and aircraft type.
What is the validity of PPL?
It is valid for 10 years and renewable with medical, flying experience or flying proficiency.
Can I take friends/family in the aircraft with PPL?
Yes, but only non-commercially.
Where can I do PPL in India?
Almost all DGCA-approved flying clubs and academies offer PPL courses.
Is a medical required for PPL?
Yes, Class 2 medical is mandatory.
Can a PPL holder become a flight instructor?
No. You must hold a CPL with additional instructor ratings.
