What is ATPL?
ATPL stands for Airlines Transport Pilot Licence; issued by DGCA. This is the highest level of Pilot Licence. An ATPL holder can exercise the privileges of both CPL and PPL; and act as Pilot-in-Command of an aeroplane having an all-up weight exceeding 5700 Kgs.

What is the difference between CPL and ATPL?
CPL is commercial Pilot Licence with which you can fly all aircrafts not exceeding 5700 Kg as Pilot-in-Command. ATPL means Airlines Transport Pilot Licence with which you can fly any aircraft as Pilot-in-Command.

Can I go for ATPL without having CPL?
No. CPL is one of the basic requirements for ATPL.

How many ATPL exams are there in India?
Normally there are 3 ATPL written and 2 oral exams. However for ATPL conversion, Air regulation is also required.
